About candidate

About you
I am originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and currently reside in the Washington, D.C. area. My professional journey has been rooted in the creative arts, a field I’ve always been passionate about. Over the years, I’ve developed a diverse portfolio by working with churches, podcast studios, music recording studios, and on videography projects for documentaries and music videos. Each experience has allowed me to refine my creative approach while also expanding my technical skills. I take pride in continuously learning and exploring new areas of work that challenge and inspire me.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy staying active and connected to my community. I spend my free time with friends, walking, and both playing and teaching tennis—a sport that has taught me discipline, focus, and patience. I also dedicate time to creating music and developing content for my personal website, which allows me to express my creativity and experiment with new ideas. I’m always eager to grow, collaborate, and bring a mix of creativity and technical expertise to any project I’m part of.
What are you looking for in a new role?
In my next role, I’m looking for an opportunity where I can use my creative skills to enhance video and/or audio editing for podcasts and other media projects. I’m passionate about storytelling through sound and visuals, and I enjoy crafting content that connects with audiences in meaningful ways. I’m seeking a position that allows me to apply and grow my technical abilities in editing, production, and post-production while contributing to a team that values creativity and collaboration. Having worked in various creative environments—including churches, studios, conferences, and field shoots. I’ve learned how to adapt to different workflows and bring fresh ideas to each project. I’m especially interested in roles that provide room for innovation and encourage learning new tools and techniques to improve production quality. Ultimately, I’m looking for a dynamic environment where I can help elevate the visual and audio experience of every project while continuing to develop as a creative professional.
What you are interested in working with us?
I’m deeply interested in joining your team because this role perfectly aligns with both my creative background and my passion for putting together meaningful, high-quality audio and visual content.

Over the years, I’ve worked across various creative spaces—including podcast studios, music recording environments, and video production for documentaries and music videos. Each of these experiences taught me the importance of editing not just for technical precision, but for emotional impact. The idea of transforming raw, multi-track recordings into a well put together, engaging story really resonates with me. I understand the importance of EQ, compression, and noise reduction to enhance the listening experience and ensure every voice is clear, consistent, and warm. I also understand the importance of trimming silences, tightening transitions, and shaping episodes to maintain listener engagement from start to finish.

The collaborative nature of your workflow is another aspect that strongly attracts me. I enjoy working closely with producers, show hosts, and creative teams to align on tone, goals, and structure. I have used connected platforms like Slack and Zooms for meetings and would love to continue to join the work flow in that way.

Organization is another area I take seriously. From maintaining consistent file naming systems to managing exports and metadata, I understand how crucial structure is to keeping production smooth and efficient. I’m comfortable using new platforms like Trello and Notion to track project progress, and I find satisfaction in seeing a project move seamlessly from editing to publishing.
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
One of the most challenging experiences I’ve faced in my professional journey was learning and adapting to the SMPTE 2110 system. This is a suite of standards from the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers that defines how to transmit digital media over IP networks. This technology was part of a new audio and video system installed during a major studio renovation at my workplace. As someone who values both creativity and technical growth, this experience tested my ability to quickly absorb complex information, stay organized under pressure, and work collaboratively with my team.

Before we could fully operate the new system, our team underwent training sessions to understand every function of SMPTE 2110, including how it handles the separate transmission of video, audio, and ancillary data over an IP infrastructure. While the training was thorough, the amount of new information was immense and highly technical. It was a steep learning curve, as I needed to grasp not only the theoretical framework but also how it applied in real-world production workflows. What made it even more challenging was the expectation to transition smoothly into live operation soon after installation, with very little downtime to practice.

To manage the learning process, I developed a personal system of note-taking and self-review. I documented each step of the setup, every key function, and all troubleshooting procedures. These notes became my go-to reference whenever I encountered a new issue or needed to recall a specific process. Writing everything down helped reinforce what I learned and made it easier to stay confident and efficient when working independently. Over time, I became more comfortable with the interface, network configurations, and synchronization processes required to maintain signal integrity across the system.

This challenge also highlighted the importance of teamwork. My colleagues and I formed a strong support network where we regularly exchanged ideas, shared discoveries, and helped one another problem-solve in real time. During time-pressured scenarios—such as live broadcasts or system testing, we relied heavily on communication and trust. There were moments when things didn’t work as expected, but instead of panicking, we collaborated to find quick, effective solutions. That spirit of teamwork not only strengthened our technical skills but also built camaraderie and resilience.

Looking back, mastering SMPTE 2110 was more than just a technical achievement—it was an experience that taught me how to learn efficiently under pressure, adapt to new technologies, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment. It reinforced the value of documentation, continuous learning, and open communication in any professional setting. What once seemed like an overwhelming task eventually became a rewarding milestone in my career, giving me greater confidence in tackling complex systems and adapting to the evolving landscape of broadcast and media technology.

I am writing to express my interest in the Remote Podcast Editor position at. With several years of hands-on experience in audio and video production—ranging from government communications to professional studio work—I have developed the technical precision, creative instincts, and collaborative mindset needed to bring high-quality media projects to life.

In my most recent role, I worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under Secretary Ben Carson, where I was directly involved in setting up and recording podcast shows. My responsibilities included managing the technical setup, ensuring clean audio capture, and editing each episode using Adobe Audition. During Secretary Carson’s tenure, our team successfully recorded and edited over 30 podcast episodes, highlighting key initiatives and conversations from the Department. This experience strengthened my ability to maintain consistency, clarity, and production efficiency under tight deadlines, while also reinforcing the importance of storytelling in public communication.

Beyond my work in government, I have also had the opportunity to expand my creative and technical skill set at Breasia Studios in Laurel, Maryland. Working in a professional studio environment provided me with a thorough understanding of editing across a variety of media formats, including interviews, podcasts, music projects, and television shows. At Breasia, I worked extensively with Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Final Cut Pro, each of which helped me refine my approach to both sound design and visual editing. These tools allowed me to enhance the overall quality and flow of every project, ensuring a polished and engaging final product.

Throughout my career, I have always valued the balance between creativity and structure. I also value communications with the team that I am on as well as communication with my clients. I enjoy using my technical knowledge to serve the story. Whether that means balancing audio levels, trimming for clarity, or designing seamless transitions that support the tone and pacing of a conversation.

I am excited about the possibility of contributing my experience and supporting your mission to produce thoughtful, high-quality content. I am confident that my background in both government media production and professional studio editing has equipped me with the versatility, adaptability, and creative focus to excel in this role.

Sincerely,

Andrew Stridiron
